EAA Chapter 489 was originally formed from a group of avid aviators at Davis Airpark near Statesboro, Georgia. The members enjoyed family activities which included food flying and loads of fun. Many close relationships were formed. After Davis Airpark closed the Chapter membership gradually started to reduce. Many of the aircraft were relocated to the Statesboro Bulloch County Airport. Eventually the Chapter became inactive.
Many of the members were still active in aviation, and kept in touch with each other. The fond memories of spending afternoons enjoying food, flying and fun remained. Last year a few of the former members decided that the Chapter should be reactivated. The response was overwhelming. The Chapter was reactivated and now has over 50 members.
